Parents
Your young person has revealed to you that their gender doesn’t match the one they were assigned. You want what’s best for them, but aren’t sure where to start.
I can do a lot of things to give you a helpful hand, but among them are:
- Track down local mental health professionals in your area who are not just LGBTQIA+ friendly, but also actively assist trans patients and their families
- Provide you with a safe-haven to process any feelings you may have relating to your young person’s transition
- Have an open discussion towards self-reconciliation with you if your beliefs don’t align with your young person’s transition
- Locate age-appropriate resources for discussing the transition with siblings.
- Find young person friendly gender clinics in your area, and give you an idea if they have a wait time, and what it is
- Provide information about medication options such as “puberty blockers”
- Help you learn more about the laws in your area that might pertain to your young person
- Be there to champion your cause if you face any frustrations with schools and/or their districts.
…and much, much more. Schedule an Icebreaker to chat with me, and see how I can help you and your family.
